lichen and ammonia progress (+reishi)

lichens will need more time to steep but the color seems to progressively get richer and darker.

reishi mushrooms are slowly coming along. cute little buds are forming!

paper w/ dried mushrooms

mushrooms are currently being pressed and will enter drying stage tonight.

using dried mushrooms seem to yield different results than fresh- but i am basing this on images found online, not through actual testing.

the reishi and turkey tails are slowly growing but will definitely not be done by the end of this class. right now, i am wondering if they’ll be ready by the end of the semester.

i might have to go foraging if i can’t see growth result by the end of march.

status update

our fungus class group, got in contact with artist/expert oliver kellhammer monday for a 1 hour interview. talked mainly about his ongoing work ‘means of production.’ he’s seems like such a cool person. i hope to contact him again later in the semester.

our group is also hoping to visit the morus museum.

currently we are in the middle of transcribing the audio.

mushroom pulp/slurry that will be ready for paper making. yay!

reishi and turkey tails are in the grow tent. reishi will take a while (~3-4 months) and the turkey tails are showing progress.

i am also growing these mushrooms at home as backup.
